Follow the money

Editor:

It was an easy decision for me to support Zan Henson, Kristi Markey and Robert Pacelli for water board in the upcoming Nov. 4 election.

All I had to do was follow the money. Their opponents are heavily supported by politicians, the building industry, attorneys and real estate developers. These groups are pressing hard for more water so that their cities and clients will have lots of water to build, not affordable housing as they proclaim, but more golf courses, shopping centers, surburban housing and McMansions. I am supporting Henson, Markey and Pacelli because they would protect the public's right to vote on new water projects, prohibit water profiteering, replace the water taken illegally by Cal-Am from the Carmel River and build a sensible desalination plant in Sand City which would provide drought-proof water and save on our water bills.

The three who are running against Henson, Markey and Pacelli are: a former manager of Cal-Am the firm that over pumped the Carmel river and wanted a dam (Larry Foy); the individual who benefitted the most from water profiteer purchases (Michelle Knight), and a former spokesperson for the oversized Cannery Row development project (Marc Beique).

Join me. Support Henson, Markey and Pacelli for Water Board.
